The West Jackson Community Development Corporation (West Jackson CDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering community leadership and revitalizing the neighborhoods surrounding Jackson State University. Focused on Wards Three and Five, West Jackson CDC works to uplift communities that have long faced the challenges of urban decay, including high unemployment, crime, poverty, absentee landlords, and environmental neglect.

Through strong leadership and collaboration with Jackson State University, the West
Jackson CDC has united five neighborhood associations in a shared mission to
improve social and economic conditions in the target area.
By bringing together local
government, financial institutions, and community organizations, we are creating a
powerful network of support that drives sustainable change.
With a vision rooted in partnership and progress, West Jackson CDC is not only
transforming the communities it serves but also establishing a model for how
universities, public and private institutions, and grassroots organizations can work
together to create lasting impact.
We believe that by combining the efforts of the neighborhood organizations, Jackson State University, local government, financial institutions, etc., the West Jackson CDC will not only have a dramatically positive impact on the communities which are encompassed in this target area, but it will also have the potential of becoming a model partnership between a university, public and private institutions, and organized community associations.
